Race Report: Saturday night we ate italian of course-had to carbload! I had seafood marinara and it was so good! The bread was delicious-I was hoping all would go well and nothing would upset my stomach. Had a hard time falling asleep I did take an excedrin pm to try and fall asleep. I was up at about 3 am and must have fell asleep for another hour or so. Got up at 5 am and started getting ready. Had my tattoos on and ready to go. Had my oatmeal and banana. Of course I probably drank too much water and had to go to the bathroom twice before the race started. We lined up in our corral 5 didn't hear the american anthem or even the start of the race. It took us about 8 mins before we crossed the start. There were a lot of walkers and they probably should have started at the back but hey some were walking faster than I was running. The first 3 miles are always the hardest for me-in this case my left foot was numb and I couldn't believe it and once that went away my toes on my right foot started to bother me but I could deal with that. I didn't stop for water and when I did want it at mile 4 they had non because it was frozen-my luck. It was probably 2 miles until the next station. I felt pretty good saw Lindsay at Mile 8 I thought she was probably so far ahead because her pace was fast and I hadn't seen her since Mile 1. We were together until about Mile 10 her foot was bothering her. I probably should have stretched at Mile 10ish and maybe that would have helped. At about Mile 12 my calves started to cramp. I don't get it! I took an endurolyte after about 1hr and still the cramps. Once I got on the boardwalk and saw the finish I couldn't even pretend to sprint to the finish. The pain almost made me fall to the ground. They were so bad I was just thinking I can't stop and walk now. I made it thru the Finish at 2:38 so better than my last two times by the chip time. I would really like to get to 2:30 or below we will see. It was so crowded and so many people! Lindsay finished right behind me but she was in pain. We walked back to the hotel and saw the marathoners at about Mile 12 for them on the boardwalk. We went and stuck our legs in the ocean-it was so cold hopefully it will help with the pain. Went to lunch and was so hungry. We rode bikes for an hour and that was nice got some good pictures at the end of the race. Dinner was a nice seafood dinner-should have waited and got the she crap soup there-had steamed clams though and they were great! I am exhausted!
